Everyone has that person on their holiday list who is impossible to buy for. This person already has everything. This person needs absolutely nothing. This person would probably be very happy if you just made a donation in her name to a worthy charity who does work she supports.
There are lots of charities out there who do work in the health and wellness world. I’m just going to tell you about a few of my favorites.
- Girls on the Run– This program combines leadership skills, empowerment lessons, and running training as a way to inspire girls to greatness.
- Marathon Kids– A non-profit that encourages kids to run a marathon over the course of a school year, while tracking their mileage and nutrition habits. (My boys’ school does Marathon Kids, and they are so proud to participate!)
- Charity Miles– Short on cash but want to make a meaningful donation? You could dedicate your training to one of a selection of charities. Check out my blog post about this exciting new app.
- Fitness 4 Charity– An organization that seeks to take that old sports equipment out of your garage and make it available to people who can use it.
Here’s a link to information about another 8 charities related to sports that are doing good work around the world.
You could also check out fitness events that raise money for charities, and you and your friend could get fit together for a good cause. I loved my experience of running Falmouth Road Race for Boston Children’s Hospital last August.
Certainly you can find something that’s a good fit.
Good health and great happiness to you!
