Virtual Bootcamp: How Does It Work?

I’m glad you asked!

No, really, I’ve gotten a lot of great questions since announcing the first Virtual Balance Bootcamp which will kick off April 1st.  And while I’m thrilled that so many of you have asked “How do I sign up?”, I intentionally didn’t include a link to register just yet.

I want to make sure you understand how absolutely awesome it’s going to be.

Here’s what will happen:

Every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, you’ll have a workout delivered directly to your in-box by 5am.  This workout can be done at home, and most can be completed within 30 minutes.  You’ll need a little equipment for some of the workouts, but I’ll talk more about that later (or click the link above to see the list).

Each workout will include a suggested warm-up– this is especially important if you’re a roll-out-of-bed-and-exercise kind of person (lucky you!)– and cool down stretches.  For each of the exercises that make up the body of the workout, there will be a link to a video of how to do the exercise with good form.  There will also be suggestions for how to make the exercise easier or harder, so the workouts will suit a wide range of ability levels.  The exercises are all demonstrated by me, a Certified Personal Trainer, because keeping you in good form and injury-free is of utmost importance.

Furthermore, many of the workouts are done as a series of exercises performed for a set period of time.  This is another way each individual can self-regulate the difficulty of the workout.  As with any physical activity, you need to listen to your body and know the difference between what hurts because you are working and what hurts because there is pain!

I will have a basic physical-readiness questionnaire as part of the registration process.  I urge you to have physician clearance before participating as well.

One of the most exciting parts of the Balance Virtual Bootcamp is that all participants will be invited to join a private Facebook page.  We’ll use this forum to answer questions, cheer each other on, and provide additional ideas for healthy living.  So while the program itself lays out workouts for you to complete, the Facebook community will help keep you accountable.

Those folks participating in the Facebook community or via twitter (#balancebootcamp) or responding here on the onbalance blog will be entered to win a $100 cash prize at the conclusion of the bootcamp.

Let me know if you have other questions.  I want to answer them and use your concerns to make the Balance Virtual Bootcamp the best experience it can be.

Good health and great happiness to you!
