Has Summer melted your motivation?

If you’re finding yourself low on motivation these days due to the long days and high heat of summer, it’s a good time to think about how and why you exercise.

Most people need a goal to motivate them to exercise.  Whether it’s to lose weight or to tone up, remind yourself why you put so much effort into each workout.  Don’t have a goal in mind?  There’s nothing much more motivating than participating in race.

Need a few ideas?

  • For a beginner-friendly(and well-named!) race for women only, try the Balance 5K on August 8th. 
  • Have you been in the pool a lot this summer?  The Deep Eddy Mile on August 22nd is a local fave for the swimming set. 
  • For women looking to try a triathlon, the Sweet & Twisted Triathlon is on August 16th.
  • The biggest local triathlon is the Austin Triathlon, held on Labor Day (Sept 7th).  Let’s hope after two years of logistical woes, this year’s event goes off brilliantly.

There are plenty of smaller road races in communities throughout Central Texas this summer.  July 4th is a great day for road races; check out the events calendar at RunTex for more ideas.
